Brand Chamula
Each Chamula product is imbued with the delightful variances and rich character that can only be achieved through the careful handiwork of master craftsmen and women. A product of designer Yuki Matsuda’s travels through rural Mexico in the 1990’s, Chamula strives to preserve the art of delicately-made knit and woven goods from the Michoacán region. Chamula's bracelets, specifically, are woven by hand in Mexico, by native Mexicans from dyed horse hair and feature Nickel Indian Head Concho embellishment (on the Concho Bracelet). The focus of the brand is on hand-made items that express many of the Native American/Mexican motifs, symbols and patterns indigenous to the area in which the items are made.
