In 1923, Charles “Chuck” Taylor joined a basketball team called The Converse All Stars, sponsored by Converse of course. Over the following years, he would work directly with Converse to make technical updates to the shoe, eventually creating what we know and love as the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star. Today, the most common iteration of the sneaker is the ’70, based on the most recent updates that were made in the early 1970s, allowing for maximum comfort, traction, and flexibility. The All Star ’70 Poly Suede Ox in University Gold features a low top premium poly suede upper, and smooth suede tongue and toebox.
